How does the California School of Law’s Online Law School work?
The goal of the California School of Law is to provide an educational experience as close to a traditional residential law school as possible online.

Students attend a Zoom webinar on Tuesday and Thursday night where you can see and speak with the professor and classmates. Classes are conducted just like at a traditional, residential law school, with the professor discussing cases, directly questioning students and giving students the opportunity to debate the law with their classmates. Students have face to face interaction with the other students, establishing friendships and professional networking connections.

What approval does the California School of Law have?
State Bar of California:
California School of Law is registered with The Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California as a Distance-Learning Law School.

American Bar Association:
To date, the American Bar Association (“ABA”) has not accredited online law school.

What are the California School of Law‘s Bar Results?
Our graduates have performed exceptionally well on the California Bar Exam!

Over the last 5 years 67% of the students who have taken the Bar Exam have passed!
What are the Admissions Requirements?
Applicants with a Bachelors, Associates Degree or 60+ college units will most likely be accepted to the law school. No LSAT is required. Check out our Admissions Standards.

What degree do I receive when I graduate?
Every student who graduates from the California School of Law will receive a Juris Doctor Degree, opening up a world of employment opportunities, as an attorney, law professor, business person, or wherever you imagine your career is taking you.

When do the classes meet?
Classes meet on most Tuesday and Thursday evening. There are two start times to choose from, 4:30pm- 7:30pm PST or 6:00pm – 9:00pm PST which is 7:30pm – 9:30pm EST or 9:00pm-12pm EST.

How long is a semester?
The California School of Law runs on trimesters, there are 3 semesters a year. The semesters are a traditional 4 month law school semester.

When do the semesters start?
The semester begin in December, April, August.

When is the application deadline?
November 1, for the December start.

March 1, for the April start.

July 1, for the August start.

How long does it take to complete the JD program?
The program takes 4 years to complete (sorry it cannot be accelerated).

Can students work full time while enrolled in law school?
Yes. Most of our students work full time, scheduling their study time and evening classes around work.

What is the tuition?
Tuition is charged by the semester.

  • One Semester $3,000.00
  • One year or Three Trimesters $9,000.00
  • 4 year Juris Doctor Degree $36,000.00

Does California School of Law provide tuition assistance?
California School of Law provides students with several affordable and attractive installment plans. All plans require some payment while attending law school. All students enrolled in the California School of Law will be approved for a installment plan. Tuition is charged by the semester, not the year, keeping both the principal and interest low. How do I take exams?
Exams are taken on your computer. All Exams are proctored using an online proctoring service.

How do I submit homework?
Professors can post homework assignments in the virtual classes, students then type up their answers and up load the work. Professors can post grades and any comments on the homework.

What if a student has a computer problem during class?
Tech support is readily available for students who experience technical problems. However, once students are familiar with California School of Law’s software programs, they generally have few technical problems.

What exams do I have to take to become an attorney?
For a Juris Doctor degree, students must take and pass the Bar Exam and the First-Year Law Students Examination (FYLSX or “baby bar”).

Who will teach the classes?
All classes are taught by experienced faculty, who are all licensed attorneys and experts in their field, to find out more go to: Faculty

How do I get my Textbooks?
The California School of Law uses the same textbooks regularly used at other law schools. The textbooks are available on Amazon, students just order the book and have it sent to their home.

What about library services?
A FastCase account is provided to all students, FastCase is an online law library. With FastCase, students learn how to conduct legal research and have access to the most recent cases, statutes, and journal articles from around the country.
